Mayflower Renaissance D.C. Gets in the Election Day Spirit

10/9/2012 | The Scene
Election Day is looming just on the horizon, and hotels in Washington D.C. are getting prepared for next month's big political event. Some are ramping up with special foodie options such as Presidential Cheese at the Blue Duck Tavern in the Park Hyatt Washington or getting ready with evenings of cocktail sipping and debate watching at The Madison. But the Mayflower Renaissance D.C. Hotel is offering a "suite" package that will impress both Democrats and Republicans.

The historic property launched the "Pick Your Party" package earlier this month to attract high-rolling political guests to the hotel during election season.

The extravagant package, which starts at $5,000 per night, includes a Republican or Democratic inspired one-bedroom suite, adorned in lavish “party-perfect” decorations. The package also includes election-themed snacks and cocktails and a complimentary champagne moonlight tour of the city's famous monuments. Champagne breakfast for two, in-room political DVDs and television shows, a political swag bag, and parking are also included with the booking.

“Renaissance Hotels prides itself on providing its guests access to exclusive and unforgettable experiences,” said Tina Edmundson, senior vice president lifestyle brands for Marriott International, Inc. “This election season, the 'Pick Your Party package captures the excitement of election season and offers guests an once-in-a-lifetime hotel experience.”

Those choosing to stay at the hotel during election season can also imbibe in Renaissance Hotels election-themed cocktail menu, available at Renaissance Hotels nationwide. Guests can select from innovative libations like the Lobbyist (Belvedere Bloody Mary Vodka, Martini & Rossi Dry Vermouth and Fee Bros. Zesty Pickle Brine) or the Balanced Budget (Cîroc Berry Vodka, DeKuyper Blue Curaçao, Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur and strawberry flavored whipped cream).

We have to admit that the elaborate package and the themed cocktails are pretty clever marketing strategies to boost business during election season. Is your hotel doing anything special to gear up for the election?
