AH&LA Praises Sen. Grassley for Pushing Booking Site Issue

The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) has praised Sen. Chuck Grassley for calling attention to the issue of deceptive third party booking sites. In a letter sent on May 19, Grassley urged the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to investigate the matter. The AH&LA estimates this issue has led to 2.5 million bad bookings.

“We are grateful for Chairman Grassley’s support in calling attention to this growing problem for consumers,” said Katherine Lugar, president and CEO of AH&LA. “As summer travel season gets underway, it’s more important than ever for consumers to protect themselves from third party booking sites that trick them into thinking they are booking directly with a hotel,” she said.
