Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts Appoints New CEO

 SINGAPORE—Banyan Tree Holdings Ltd. announces the appointment of Mr. Abid Butt as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts (BTHR). BTHR is the wholly-owned hotel management and development subsidiary of Singapore-listed Banyan Tree Holdings Ltd.
“As BTHR’s aggressive growth strategy propels the company’s portfolio forward, with a significant pipeline of projects in China, the Americas, Europe and Southeast Asia, Abid’s knowledge and expertise in hotel operations and infrastructure will be invaluable,” says Executive Chairman Mr. Ho Kwon Ping, in an announcement.
Mr. Butt has a legacy of experience with Banyan Tree, having served as the Area General Manager for the Group’s flagship resort, Banyan Tree Phuket, over ten years ago, followed by his appointment as the first Vice President of Operations from 2000 – 2002. In this capacity, Mr. Butt oversaw operations and branding for existing hotels and resorts and the launch of new properties. In his most recent position, Mr. Butt was the Vice President for Asset Management of Host Hotels & Resorts in the United States, responsible for preserving and enhancing the value of a collection of 15 luxury hotels.
