InterContinental London Park Lane Renovates the Royal Suite

1/22/2013 | The Scene
The InterContinental London Park Lane sits on the site of 145 Piccadilly, the former childhood residence of Queen Elizabeth II. The hotel's historic ties have inspired a regal renovation to the property's 8th floor Royal Suite. The four interconnecting rooms have been redesigned in a matching style and can be joined to create a 5 bedroom, 5 bathroom space totalling 196.7 square meters.

Designed by The Gallery, the specialised studio within HBA's London team, the new interpretation draws inspiration from the Queen’s style and duties to create a space suited to entertaining, meeting, or relaxing in modern luxury.

The special suite's living and entertaining area features a hand-blown glass chandelier inspired by Elizabeth II’s diamond collection. The dining area, complete with black lacquer dining table and custom accessories, is complemented by an intimate seating alcove. The velvet cocoon is ideal for post-dinner Champagne while soaking up the Knightsbridge skyline.

The study area features a traditional writing desk with a white leather wingback desk chair, accessories, and a collection of Taschen curated books. The master bedroom boasts a satin canopy bed that celebrates the backdrops Cecil Beaton used in his portraits of Her Majesty and an expansive walk in wardrobe with leather and brass trim doors. A cream Calcuttamarble ensuite bathroom features reclaimed antique mirrors and By Royal Appointment amenities from Penhaligon's, the London perfumers.

The redesigned suite also offers a collection of artwork featuring limited edition signed giclée prints by Ann Carrington, who created the Royal Jubilee banner for the stern of the Royal Barge, the Spirit of Chartwell, as it made its journey up the River Thames. Other pieces include framed antique postcards, and contemporary sketches of the Queen’s finely detailed millinery and her beloved corgis.

The newly renovated Royal Suite complements recently completed property upgrades including a new porte-cochère, updated meeting and events floor, and revitalised Club InterContinental.
