Bill Marriott, Jr. Publishes 'Without Reservations'
 At 80 years old, Bill Marriott, Jr. remains one of the most recognizable and successful figures in the hotel industry. He helmed Marriott International for 40 years and grew what started as a family-owned restaurant chain into a lodging giant that now encompasses nearly 3,800 hotels across 18 brands in more than 70 countries.
And hotel junkies can now get an inside look at company with Bill Marriott's new book "Without Reservations: How A Family Root Beer Stand Grew Into a Global Hotel Company."
In the personal account, Marriott reveals never-before-shared personal stories and business lessons, including the role his mother played in the growth and direction of the company; the importance of touch points—moments of interaction that can make all the difference between a customer’s satisfaction and disappointment; the impact of 9/11 on the travel industry; and how the competition and Next Generation Travelers are fueling unprecedented innovation. Marriott also writes about his decision to name Arne Sorenson as CEO of the company and why one of his four children wasn’t tapped as his successor.
