The Biltmore Santa Barbara Introduces High Tech Lounge Chair
It may be the middle of February, but that won't stop us from daydreaming about spending days lounging by the pool, soaking up some sun. And guests staying at Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore Santa Barbara can now stay connected to all of their tech gadgets while hanging out at the resort's Coral Casino Beach and Cabana Club on Butterfly Beach.
The hotel designed a a special “e-Connect Chair," which is a technology-enabled chaise lounge. The lounges offer a tablet holder that allows for hands-free viewing of a personal tablet or e-reader, a wireless charger, Sony noise-cancelling headphones, and a $5.00 iTunes gift card so guests can download some tunes.
And starting this summer, the resort will also offer a pint-size version of the chair, complete with an iPod Touch programmed with age appropriate games and music, headphones, kid’s sunscreen, and a special snack menu to keep kids occupied and amused while at the pool.
The chairs can be reserved for $35 per day.
We think that this is a really great idea, especially with the amount of guests who bring tablets, laptops, and cellphones with them on vacation. It would be nice to watch your favorite television shows or movies on an iPad by the pool without having to worry about the battery running out of juice. And, these types of chairs will help the resort bring in incremental revenue. I'm sure we'll see more hotels doing similar high-tech things by the pool in the near future.
