10 Noteworthy Hotel Openings

The past few months have seen a number of hotels enter the market. Here is a look at 10 of the most noteworthy openings:

The Bernic: Set to open in winter 2016, the 21-story boutique hotel will house 96 guestrooms, including a luxury penthouse suite. The property, managed by Marshall Hotels and Resorts, will be home to Allora restaurant and rooftop skylounge Elio & Sons.

Hyatt House New Orleans/Downtown: Opened on Nov. 17, this hotel is the first Hyatt House hotel in New Orleans. An adaptive reuse of a 24-story office building, the 194-room property occupies seven floors and connects to the Hyatt Regency New Orleans. Of the guestrooms, 80 are upscale “den guestrooms” that feature a seating area with a sofa.

Thompson Playa del Carmen: Located in downtown Playa del Carmen, the 92-room hotel sits on La Quinta Avenida, a two-mile, pedestrian-only throughway lined with shops and dining options. One of two distinct locations, its other half, Beach House, will open in early 2016.

The Bicycle Hotel & Casino: R.D. Olson Construction has completed its latest project in the heart of Bell Gardens, Calif. The $45 million hotel is seven stories, housing 99 rooms. The property features more than 15,000 square feet of event, meeting, and function space.

JW Marriott Minneapolis Mall of America: Part of the Mall of America’s latest expansion, the hotel features 342 guestrooms and a signature restaurant, Cedar + Stone, Urban Table. It was designed in collaboration with DLR Group and Design Force.

Holiday Inn New York City-Times Square: InterContinental Hotels Group has opened a new-build, 271-room hotel near Times Square. The 35-story hotel features 120 king and 151 double-double rooms, as well as the Rattle N Hum West Craft Beer Bar & Kitchen.

JW Marriott Los Cabos Beach Resort & Spa: The 299-room and suite hotel designed by Olson Kundig and Idea Asociados features a 21,000-square-foot spa and sweat lodge. Additionally, the property houses seven restaurants and bars, including the signature Café des Artistes.

Taconic: Kimpton Hotels & Resorts began greeting guests at the property on Dec. 3. Named for the nearby Taconic Mountain range, it is the company’s first Vermont hotel. It features 87 accommodations, including six suites and three standalone cottages, and boasts 9,600 square feet of flexible meeting and event space.

Residence Inn by Marriott Springwoods Village: The all-suite hotel offers studio and one-bedroom suites, with 128 rooms in all. Managed by InterMountain Management, the property features a business center and Sport Court. Springwoods Village is a $10-billion, 1,800-acre, mixed-use site designed for sustainability.

The St. Regis Dubai: Owned by the Al Habtoor Group, the hotel features eight culinary venues and 234 rooms, including 52 suites. The hotel will house a custom-designed Bentley Suite, inspired by the craftsmanship of the Bentley Mulsanne, when it is unveiled in 2016. The St. Regis Dubai also features a 24-hour fitness center, two rooftop swimming pools, and a private helipad.
